Meet Lauren Wilson
Your potential ;) CBE, BD
Hi! I’m so glad you’re here! Let me tell you a little bit about myself!
My name is Lauren Wilson. I am a certified Childbirth Educator and Birth Doula serving women in the Jackson-Metro area in home and hospital births.
I am a serving wife to my loving and hardworking husband Logan. We recently married in May of 2025 and still feel like we’re living a dream. We are both passionate about working in the community around us as we seek to serve others through our work.
You can consistently find me in the community coaching and working out at Coyote Fitness Flowood and attending church at Bellwether. I’m here for long walks, breakfast dates, thrifting, and pretty much anything that means enjoying time with friends and family.
FAQs
Why did you enter the birth working world?
To be honest, it started from personal gain. I wanted to know why birth happens the way it does now. I wanted to know how it would impact me. It seemed odd that birth, even though it’s been around for all of time, felt like this complicated, scary, and controlled thing. So, my journey started with lots of questions and listening to people’s stories. And then I found more abounding stories on what birth could be - natural and physiological. Once I realized that it was possible and happening, I wanted to help educate others around me. I wanted to help create this beautiful, sacred, soft, comfortable space for moms to feel safe giving birth again.
Why should I have a doula?
There’s a good bit of research out there that explains the benefits of having a doula. This article is a good one to read. But here I’ll say, if you want less interventions, having a doula decreases that chance. If you want to try to do it naturally, having a doula there helps tremendously and decreases the chance of getting an epidural or having a cesarean section. Think about it, imagine doing the hardest physical and mental challenge of your life. You wouldn’t want to do that alone or without support. A doula is trained to help you physically, emotionally, and mentally through that life-giving challenge.
What does a doula NOT do?
A doula is birth professional, not a medical professional. We support, coach, educate, and advocate. We don’t check temperatures, blood pressure, cervical dilation, etc. We’ll leave that to your midwife or OB ;)
How do I know if this doula is the right fit for me?
Trust your instincts. Too often we’re told to only think logically when making a decision, and while you still should use your brain, your body also communicates to you. Do you feel comfortable with this person? Are they easy for you to connect with? Do they agree or align with the way you hope to give birth? How will they advocate for you? You’ll know when you know.
My Certifications
I received both of my certifications through the Biblical Birth School. As a Christian, it was very important to me to come into this work with the right mindset and thoughts surrounding birth. This program renewed my mind and gave me the necessary information and training to go out and teach and/or support mothers and families in birth.
“Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.”
